Biography

My name is Tim Gumz.

I’ve been a full-time photographer for the past decade, continually honing my skills and serving a wide variety of clients from students to businesses. I like to think I was born with a camera in my hand. However, the truth is that I was given my very first camera at 7 years old when I began to travel with my parents in an effort to keep me from playing around with my father’s Vietnam-era Canon SLR camera.

That passion would sustain throughout my formative years, ultimately pushing me to pursue my passion as a full-time career. As such, I pursued a degree in print journalism and a minor in integrated marketing at UW-Whitewater, graduating with my bachelor’s degree in the spring of 2011.

My career as a photographer started out with sporting and music events, traveling with teams and bands to not only document their competitions and performances but also later help to promote them and their activities. As I continued in my career, I continually sought out new opportunities and other styles of photography to further advance my skills and become a well-rounded photographer.

Today, those skills that I’ve honed and refined over the past decade are put to good use as I specialize in portraits, weddings, corporate events and even aerial photography. Over the past four years, I have also begun to branch out into the video world, producing short promotional videos for local companies to help promote those companies and the services they provide to their surrounding communities.

For me, this career has been much more than a job. It’s not only a lifelong passion, but one that allows me to use my skills to help bring joy to others and help businesses flourish. It’s the path I’ve chosen on this journey they call life, and it’s a path I’d gladly choose again.
